About 20 Time

20 time is an amazing tool that inspires people of all ages to work on a personal project. Its a very simple concept. For 20 percent of your time every day, you can work on something not related to your job title or what you are learning in class. More and more schools are starting to implement this into their curriculum to get kids motivated to do something they are passionate about or achieve a goal they always wanted to achieve but never had the time for. Although it may seem like schools created 20 time, it was actually created by 3M in the 1950s and it was originally 15 percent time. Google took this idea and turned into 20 percent time. As a result  Google was able to produce things like Gmail, Adsense, and Google News which are now very popular in today’s society. I believe 20 time is a great resources for people no matter what stage of life they are in. It is a way for people to display their passions and hobbies in the form of a project that they have worked very hard on. In my case I did not know what I really wanted to do for my twenty time project. All this thinking about what I was I going to do made me realize that I had never really done anything meaningful that I was really proud of. This is what led me to decide on doing a fundraiser for club at Lambert that not a lot of people know about. I really want to make an impact and do something that I will remember for a long time coming. This is why I feel like 20 Time should be put into the learning curriculum for schools all over the world as it inspires people to find their true passion and grind at it. As described by Jennifer Gonzalez 20 time gives you the ability “to take a whole day, once a week, to set your regular work aside to explore something you are really passionate about” (Gonzalez 1).
