Unicef Fundraising Programs

One of the most well known, and longest standing fundraisers UNICEF has done is the Trick or Treat for UNICEF. UNICEF helps children in need all around the world, so what better way to obtain donations than pairing it with a child’s favorite holiday. This began in 1950 where kids would go door to door trick or treating and as they received their candy they would also ask for a small donation. This was put into place to help kids recover from World War II and help in poverty stricken communities around the world. Now in 2018 it has raised 177 million dollars which is truly incredible. With these donations UNICEF would work in different to help millions of children with immunizations, education, health care, nutrition, safe water, and sanitation, which is still very much needed in countries all around the world.  This was “the little orange box that changed the world” (“Trick or Treat for UNICEF”). Another way UNICEF is able to give so much support to children in need is the UNICEF USA Bridge Fund. According to UNICEF USA “The UNICEF USA Bridge Fund is an innovative, impact investment tool that addresses the timing gaps that emerge between the commitment of a donor’s support to UNICEF and the actual receipt of the pledged cash by UNICEF”(“UNICEF USA Bridge Fund”) Some of the items the Bridge Fund has been able to bridge are things like Mosquito nets and malaria medicine. They have also been able to provide Medical supplies, from thermometers to first-aid kits, and HIV-related medicines and diagnostics. This is a huge tool for UNICEF to use because of all the benefits it has for the organization. It has the ability to completely change the world, as it helps to ensure there are plenty of live-saving commodities for all of the children in need all around the world.
